I still remember the days when we all were so much excited to see colour screen in mobile in a smaller 1.5 inch display from Nokia phone and it was around 10 years back. After a while, we started to see bigger displays. Bigger display, bigger status, that was people's mindset and that IS the time where Note series picked up in the market.
Recently we came across lesser bezels and they called it as full view display with lesser bezel on top and bottom with 18:9 aspect ratio. This change was quickly adapted by mobile phone users. But Apple came up with iPhone X with almost no bezels and just a notch. This again shakes the mobile display innovation and display manufacturers are forced to quickly move to notch display. Now almost every mobile phone manufacturer are coming up with bezel less notch display for their flagship phones and recently OnePlus Carl Pei confirmed that there will be a notch unlike MIX.
My guess is that the speed of display evolution will get settled for a while with a notch and we can see those in budget smartphones very soon.
